Installing Printers
Overlake has printers located around campus for community use.
Please use color only for printing documents that must be printed in color. (You can print in black and white on the color printers - choose "Black and White" or "Gray scale" when printing)
Save paper! Always print double sided and use the "handouts" option for PowerPoints.
How do I install printers?
First, confirm that you are connected to "Overlake" and NOT "Overlake-Guest"
To install printers on your computer, please follow the directions below based on your operating system.
Need help?
On a Windows machine?
- Did baker open a web search? Make sure you typed the slashes in the correct direction (your keyboard has forward // AND backward \\ slashes - you should use backward \\ slashes)
- Login didn't work? Did you put overlake\ in front of your Owl-ID when authenticating?
On a Mac?

Do you see a lock button? Click the lock to make changes

Are you installing by IP address? If you are not sure, remove your printers using the "
−" button and reinstall using the "+" button.
- Having trouble installing a printer with the word "copier" in the title? Try changing the Protocol to Line Printer Daemon (LPD)
Still not working? Drop by the tech office on the second floor of the TLC!
Which printers should I install?
In general, students can print to printers with the words "Common" or "Color" in the name.
Printers with the word "Copier" are usually located in adult-only spaces (exception - Library Copier can be used by anyone).
For Middle School students, we recommend installing the following printers:
